Wolverhampton has hosted all-weather racing since 1993, with floodlights and a fibresand track installed alongside the turf track at that point. The fibresand and turf tracks were then replaced by a polytrack surface in 2004, though that only lasted 10 years and itself was replaced by what was Britain’s first tapeta surface in 2014. The feature race of Wolverhampton’s season is the listed Lady Wulfruna Stakes, run over seven furlongs in early March. Wolverhampton also hosts the valuable Lincoln Trial Stakes, a handicap run over a mile which serves as a prep run for Doncaster’s long-standing Lincoln Handicap in April.

WOLVERHAMPTON RACECOURSE MAP 64h1b
The all-weather course at Wolverhampton forms a flat, left-handed oval circuit of just under a mile in length. It was relaid in summer 2014 and the surface was changed to tapeta. The bends are fairly sharp and with a straight of under two furlongs in length it favours horses with the ability to hold a good position as opposed to those who need time to find full stride.
