Continuous progressed well last season, showing improved form when winning the Great Voltigeur at York, having plenty in hand on that occasion, and he followed up in grand style up in trip in the St Leger at Doncaster next time. He outclassed his rivals that day, having a better turn of foot than some stout stayers, but able to see the longer trip out well himself. Continuous was far from disgraced when fifth in the Arc on his final start and he brings a high level of form to the table on his return to action.

Shartash had some solid form for Johnny Murtagh, but he has improved since switching to Archie Watson (ed for €150,000), gelded before making an impressive start in a minor event at Thirsk in April. He was credited with a career-best effort on that occasion, and he produced another good performance when following up in listed company at Haydock last time. It is an open renewal of this Group 1, so it is no surprise that connections are rolling the dice, and he remains open to further improvement, too.
