The complexion of this competitive affair changed only late on, a strong pace setting it up for those from mid-field and further back and those in the places swept past the well-handicapped Farasi Lane after that one had gone through it best of all.

AL AMEEN (IRE) benefited from the step back up in trip and proved at least as good as ever after being well backed, all bar one of his 5 wins here and the 3 this season over C&D; mid-field, driven 2f out, headway to lead out wide approaching last ½f, well on top finish.

SILVER SAMURAI back in a tongue strap, is becoming well handicapped and seems to be building up to something, proving again that he's at his best when able to cut through the pack off a strong pace, be it 6f or this longer trip; waited with, progress under 2f out, every chance when forced to switch 1f out, kept on.

RACINGBREAKS RYDER (IRE) produced his best effort for a while returned to a shorter trip after 6 weeks off, not getting the clearest of runs but by no means unlucky; waited with, typically took strong hold, ridden 2f out, headway when switched approaching final 1f, forced to switch again soon after, ran on; his task is to now back this up.

FARASI LANE (IRE) is interesting from this sort of mark and did especially well under the circumstances back on all-weather, last off the bridle but proving vulnerable to the closers in a strongly-run affair, faring best of those ridden close up; prominent, went with enthusiasm, led over 2f out, headed approaching last ½f, one paced; stable remains in fine form and he's one to look out for.

FOLLOW YOUR HEART (IRE) quickly back on all-weather, was suited by the strong pace and ran respectably; held up, headway under pressure 2f out, stayed on, nearest at the finish.

HABRDI (IRE) shaped with plenty more encouragement than on his stable debut 7 weeks earlier, doing well to last as long as he did after racing closer to the pace than ideal; close up, ridden over 2f out, every chance entering final 1f, no extra final 100 yds; yard does well with new recruits and there'll be less competitive races for him in the North in the coming weeks.

BISHOP'S CROWN shaped better than the distance beaten suggests, seeming stretched by the return to 7f; dwelt, in touch, effort 2f out, just over length down and tiring when short of room 1f out; below last winning mark and not one to write off, particularly when the yard is going better (3-62 since start of April).

TIGER CRUSADE (FR) is best not judged on this run, getting it run to suit but left with too much to do; raced well off the pace, still being held together with plenty to do over 2f out, steady headway final 1f, never landed a blow (hands-and-heels ride).

PRESSURE'S ON (FR) easy to back, is in much better heart than recent form figures suggest, going off too hard on this occasion back down in trip; led until over 2f out, weakened entering final 1f.

NEWSREADER (IRE) ridden by an inexperienced jockey, has only won over this C&D and shaped as if better for the run after 5 months off; mid-field, shaken up early in straight, progress on inner 2f out, weakened final 1f.

PITNEY (IRE) ran poorly on first outing since leaving Hugo Palmer (sold 8,000 gns) after 8 months off, beaten by more than a possible lack of fitness; raced off the pace, driven 2f out, never involved.

HIERONYMUS after 6 weeks off, was soon detached following a rare tardy start.

WOBWOBWOB (IRE) without usual headgear, can have a line put through this run, his rider losing his irons when leaving the stalls and unable to recover them; raced wide, close up, shaken up 2f out, soon beaten.
