might have found winning tough as a 4-y-o but is certainly making up for that now, proving better than ever as he doubled up for the season; in touch, travelled well, had to pick way through over 1f out, got gap entering final 1f, quickened to lead inside final 50 yds, won readily; he looks well capable of winning at pattern level on this evidence.

stepped up on reappearance run after 9 days off, having no problem with the drop back to sprinting; pressed leader, challenged under 2f out, led briefly over 1f out, kept on, not quicken final 50 yds; looks worth persevering with at 6f.

lost his unbeaten record in this race after 7 months off but ran as well as he'd done when making winning returns in 2016 and 2018, forced to give weight away this time and not getting a strong pace to aim at, the outing sure to put him spot on for the rest of the season as he chases a fourth Group 1 succcess; held up, switched 2f out, had to pick way through soon after, got gap over 1f out, threatened approaching last ½f, one paced, not unduly punished.

back up in trip, is at his best in big-field handicaps but probably needed the run anyway after 8 months off; mid-field, took keen hold, pushed along over 2f out, switched soon after, faded final 1f.

A listed event that has masqueraded as a group race in recent times, this the third renewal that 3-time Group 1 winner The Tin Man has reappeared in, but unlike on previous occasions he had to concede a penalty to the others, which left him vulnerable to 2 smart, race-fit sorts in a race where they went steadily.
