A useful and competitive handicap which saw a well-treated pair bouncing back to form on the back of breathing operations coming to the fore with a duo who fought out a finish at Aintree last time.

DEMACHINE (IRE) after 4 months off, was strong in the betting down in grade on the back of a breathing operation and bounced back to form to pick up his first win in 18 months, his stamina coming to the fore down in trip; mid-division, headway 5 out, challenged 3 out, led next, in command last, kept on well.

MANOFTHEMOUNTAIN (IRE) who'd had a breathing operation since last seen, bounced back to form, beaten only by a stronger stayer who had fallen to a good mark; prominent, jumped well, led on bridle 4 out, headed 2 out, held flat.

DESTRIER (FR) ran at least as well in defeat as when winning the time before, confirming form with Barton Knoll; waited with, travelled well, not fluent 5 out, headway before 3 out, not fluent next, kept on.

BARTON KNOLL shaped as if still in good form, though typically didn't find a great deal for pressure; prominent, travelled smoothly, jumped left 5 out, shaken up after 3 out, not fluent next, held last.

TORPILLO (FR) wasted no time getting back on track, though never got involved, possibly ridden with the trip in mind (unproven beyond 2m); waited with, not fluent eighth, pushed along after 4 out, kept on from 2 out, never a threat.

CRACKING DESTINY (IRE) weak in the betting, possibly still needed this run; mid-division, awkward fourth, pushed along before 3 out, weakened next.

PINK EYED PEDRO in first-time blinkers, wasn't in the same form as last time; waited with, not always fluent, made no impression.

AL ROC (FR) was up against it under a penalty; soon led, headed 4 out, weakened.

PRESENTANDCOUNTING (IRE) again ran below form; mid-division, labouring after 5 out, beaten after next.
