made the most of a good opportunity, albeit pushed hard in order to land the odds; never far away, jumped on eighth, blundered 4 out, headed between last 2, rallied well to lead again run-in; he'll stay further and, as a result, the National Hunt Chase makes the more appeal of his 2 Cheltenham entries.

didn't have so much pressure put on his jumping in this smaller field and ran well, conceding 7 lb to the rest; third early, jumped fine, every chance from 5 out, led briefly between last 2, kept on.

was again below form but this race was never likely to play to his strengths (easy to back) and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him outperform his odds back in a valuable long-distance event before the season is out; held up, slow seventh, reminders after next, went third 5 out, readily outpaced from 3 out.

An interesting renewal of this Grade 2 despite a couple of late Gigginstown-owned withdrawals, their remaining pair running to a smart level in pulling a long way clear late on.
