This looked a weak handicap beforehand and it turned into an unsatisfactory affair due to the ridiculously strong gallop set by Basford Ben, which took its toll on plenty, the pair who pulled clear almost certainly flattered by their margin of superiority on the day.

MOSS ON THE MILL hails from an on-song yard and, back over fences, showed improved form after 4 months off to open his in this sphere; mid-division, travelled well, went on home turn, saddle slipped latter stages, awkward last as a result, asserted run-in; had a hard race and likely to be one to take on next time off a higher mark (could be hit hard for pulling so far clear with runner-up).

BY THE BOARDWALK (IRE) ran well on form, though again rather flattered to deceive and increasingly looks one to oppose despite a decent strike rate over the past 18 months; mid-division, typically travelled strongly, good progress back straight, every chance from 3 out, found less than looked likely; could suffer at the hands of the handicapper on the back of this.

STILL BELIEVING (IRE) disappointed in this larger-field event away from her own sex; waited with, blundered 5 out, never really going well after, hampered 3 out, plodded on late for a remote third.

MISS SERIOUS (IRE) ran below form and has possibly gone off the boil for the time being; waited with, hit seventh, ridden end of back straight, hampered 3 out, never landed a blow.

ADAM DU BRETEAU (FR) shaped as if still in good heart and is worth another chance to confirm the form of his Huntingdon win, the combination of an overly-forceful ride and a longer trip ultimately counting against him here; chased leader, not always fluent, travelled well, led seventeenth, headed home turn, brushed aside soon after, finished tired; should remain competitive off this sort of mark, particularly once his yard is back in better form (very easy to back here).

BIG CASINO never holds his form for long and his recent revival came to an abrupt halt here; close up early, not always fluent, ridden end of back straight, poor third when fell heavily 3 out.

ON THE BRIDGE (IRE) was let down by his jumping; dropped out, unseated rider sixth.

BASFORD BEN can probably have this run ignored as he was asked to force a ridiculously strong gallop, though it's worth noting that he endured another hard race, which could have ramifications for his suspect temperament; soon well clear, reduced advantage sixteenth, headed next, soon done with.

LETBESO (IRE) fared no better back over fences and seems to have completely lost his form; mid-division, lost place before halfway, tailed off circuit out, looked none too keen.
