A big-field handicap that was run at a strong pace but, as usually happens around here, plenty met trouble in the straight, Beckwith Place away and gone by the time they had sorted themselves out in behind.

BECKWITH PLACE (IRE) back up in trip, showed improved form to double his career tally; chased leaders, quickened to lead over 1f out, just held on; should remain competitive.

CRAFTY MADAM (IRE) in first-time tongue strap, shaped well on first outing since leaving Clive Cox after 7 months off, confirming her stamina for this trip into the bargain; held up, headway when short of room over 1f out, finished well; one to bear in mind.

PILLMAKERS HILL (IRE) on first outing since leaving Ms Sheila Lavery after 26 months off, produced his best effort for quite some time; tracked pace, effort early in straight, second 1f out, one paced; can't have been the easiest to train and remains to be seen if able to back this up.

ATLAS (IRE) again ran well, once more not getting the breaks when he needed them; raced along inside, mid-division, headway when short of room over 1f out, forced to switch, kept on; will continue to give a good .

MASSA LUBRENSE (IRE) confirmed promise of last run, likely to have gone close granted a clear run; held up, headway when not clear run over 1f out, ran on; will remain of interest.

TREBLE CONE ran respectably; mid-division, pushed along entering straight, no extra final 1f.

SOLOMONS SEAL (IRE) ran better than last time; mid-division, driven before home turn, one paced.

MERITED (IRE) took a step back in the right direction; held up, forced wide early in straight, stayed on, never nearer; not the most consistent but capable of popping up from this sort of mark.

EARL OF BUNNACURRY (IRE) back down markedly in trip, shaped much better than the bare result; raced well off the pace, still plenty to do early in straight, keeping on when denied a run well inside final 1f, finished with running left; one to keep an eye on (entered over hurdles at Stratford next week).

NAM (IRE) after 4 months off, shaped better than the distance beaten suggests; raced along inside, mid-division, took strong hold, headway when not clear run early in straight, short of room again final 1f, not persevered with once held; worth noting when market speaks in favour.

MUTADAAWEL (IRE) failed to repeat last effort; raced wide, mid-division, never landed a blow; type to bounce back quickly.
