A useful handicap that involved plenty of in-form horses; they didn't go all that quick in the early stages and a handy position seemed ideal, the first 2 better placed than the likes of Flow and Outback Traveller, who also met trouble.

TAKE A NOTE is in the form of his life and completed hat-trick from 9 lb higher mark than for first of his wins this season; prominent, led under pressure over 1f out, kept on well but had nothing to spare and was better placed than most throughout; he will be opposable from even higher in the weights next time.

SECRETINTHEPARK well backed with Richard Hughes taking over in the plate and turned in best effort of the season, at least as good as ever in fact; tracked pace, travelled better than most, chased leader approaching final 1f, ran on, just failed; will continue to give a good .

VERSE OF LOVE is back down to last winning mark and returned to form; in touch, off the bridle before most, kept on well final 1f, nearest at the finish; not sure to be in same mood next time but can be competitive again if he is.

FLOW (USA) is running consistently well, hitting the frame again, and deserves some extra credit for faring best of those held up; waited with, headway over 2f out, ran on; stepping back up to 1m+ is likely to suit.

OUTBACK TRAVELLER (IRE) caught the eye, unlucky not to finish closer, sure to have been right in the mix if things had gone more his way; mid-division, keeping on when hampered over 2f out and shuffled back, forced to switch markedly right to centre of track over 1f out, stayed on without being given anything like a hard time; can win more handicaps on this evidence and is one to keep an eye on.

FIELDGUNNER KIRKUP (GER) looks handicapped to the hilt after 6 lb rise for Redcar win but wasn't in quite the same form, anyway; made running, headed over 1f out, not quicken, had every chance.

KAKATOSI wasn't totally disgraced in a race that didn't pan out quite so well for him as when winning last time; in rear, headway under pressure over 1f out, one paced, would have benefited from a stronger gallop.

ONE WORD MORE (IRE) after 12 weeks off (has been gelded), shaped better than the bare result, though without doing enough to suggest a return to his useful best is in the offing; held up, travelled well, headway when bumped 3f out, never landed a blow but wasn't knocked about.

ASKAUD (IRE) is struggling for form at present; raced off the pace, ridden when bumped 3f out, never on .

PASTORAL PLAYER failed to build on promise of last run and is a hard horse to catch right nowadays; dwelt, raced too freely, chased leaders after 2f, folded over 1f out.

MYSTICAL SAPPHIRE was turned out again quite quickly and ran poorly; mid-division, effort over 2f out, weakened over 1f out; something to prove at present.

VICTOIRE DE LYPHAR (IRE) clearly wasn't 100% on the day; slowly into stride, soon handy, folded tamely around 2f out, something not right.
