had been contesting some of the hottest sprint handicaps since returning in the Wokingham in June and took full advantage of a less intense race back on the all-weather, showing improved form, impressing with the way he went right away in a short space late on; in touch, travelled well, shaken up over 1f out, headway to lead final 50 yds, quickly in command after; he'll go well again, the Golden Rose, in which he was third last year, an obvious next option.

A good-quality sprint handicap, if not necessarily that deep a race, though the first 3 are worth viewing positively.

SOLDIER'S MINUTE had been contesting some of the hottest sprint handicaps since returning in the Wokingham in June and took full advantage of a less intense race back on the all-weather, showing improved form, impressing with the way he went right away in a short space late on; in touch, travelled well, shaken up over 1f out, headway to lead final 50 yds, quickly in command after; he'll go well again, the Golden Rose, in which he was third last year, an obvious next option.

BENNY AND THE JETS (IRE) shaped as if on a good mark for much of the way, over 6f for the first time this year and run down late on; handy, travelled well, led under pressure over 1f out, driven after, still length up 100 yds out, headed final 50 yds, left behind by winner; will go well again.

ROULSTON SCAR (IRE) strong in the betting, wasted no time getting back to form, needing no excuses; raced off the pace, effort over 2f out, chased leaders entering final 1f, not quicken.

DESERT DOCTOR (IRE) easy to back, ran respectably, just taking a little too long to hit full stride this time; held up, not settle fully, shaken up under 2f out, not quicken, kept on inside final 1f.

RECON MISSION (IRE) making all-weather debut, wasn't disgraced, perhaps doing a bit too much in front and paying late on; led, shaken up over 2f out, headed over 1f out, weakened well inside final 1f.

OPEN WIDE (USA) just wasn't in the same form as last time, back up 6 lb for that win; held up, shaken up halfway, headway 2f out, no extra inside final 1f.

EMBOUR (IRE) went backwards from his recent stable debut, despite the return to 6f too; dropped out, outpaced after halfway.

TAWNY PORT fared little better than on his return; slowly into stride, always behind.

WILD EDRIC ran even worse than last time; chased leader, ridden straight, weakened 2f out.
