A strongly-run race clearly favoured those held up and it's arguably the lightly-raced fourth - who raced prominently and led early in the straight - that's of more interest for the future than the more exposed sorts that came from behind to fight out the finish.

SUEHAIL proved near enough as good as ever to make a winning return from 5 months off, well suited by a patient ride in strongly-run race; dropped out, still plenty to do early in straight, good headway approaching final 1f, stayed on to lead final 50 yds, driven out; record so far for this yard suggests not guaranteed to be in same form next time, when circumstances aren't sure to be so favourable, anyway.

SILVERHEELS (IRE) without the headgear this time, ran up to best; held up, headway 2f out, every chance well inside final 1f, stayed on, helped by being held up in a strongly-run race.

JACK OF DIAMONDS (IRE) wasn't disgraced in first-time hood back on all-weather, though might've been expected to do better still in a race run to suit; held up, headway under pressure from 2f out, ran on, never nearer.

DON'T STARE shaped better than the bare result, looks on a fair mark; close up, led over 2f out, headed inside final 1f, no extra, made effort earlier than ideal; one to bear in mind.

LORD OFTHE SHADOWS (IRE) ran to similar level to last time with claimer in the saddle back up in trip, not necessarily going as if right at the top of his game yet for all he'll be well treated from this mark when things do click; in touch, ridden over 3f out, not quicken 2f out, kept on again final 1f; blinkers seemed to do something for him last season.

WHIPPER SNAPPER (IRE) claimer ridden, found run of good form coming to a halt; mid-division, ridden 3f out, not quicken.

GREYFRIARSCHORISTA shaped as if back in form after 5 weeks off, at least with a view to going back on fibresand, clearly at his best on that surface; mid-division, in touch over 1f out, short of room final 1f, no extra.

TASRIH (USA) back on all-weather, not seen to best effect; soon led, headed over 2f out, weakened final 1f, did too much too soon.

BOUCLIER (IRE) one of the least exposed, looked to have been let into handicaps on a fair mark but was quite easy to back and underperformed after 6 months off, more to it than a prominent ride in a strongly-run race, perhaps short of fitness; close up, pushed along 3f out, weakened final 1f; well-bred sort in good hands so worth another chance.

LOYALTY followed a good run with below-par one; in touch, rallied 3f out, weakened over 1f out.

RAKAAN (IRE) claimer ridden, probably needed run on first outing since leaving Jamie Osborne after 3 months off; very slowly away, always behind.

THE GREAT GABRIAL back on all-weather, again ran poorly; in touch, ridden 3f out, weakened.

AL JAMAL probably needed run on first outing since leaving Saeed Bin Suroor after 9 months off, showed nothing; always behind; something to prove on the back of this.
