lightly raced for age, proved that he didn't give his running at Haydock (reappearance success worked out well) and resumed progress after 11 weeks off, his strike rate a fine one (now 5-7), taking the step up to pattern company in his stride and leaving a pair of last-time-out winners toiling in his wake; chased leader, went with enthusiasm, produced to lead 2f out, quickened clear approaching final 1f, kept up to work; the domestic schedule for similar events at this trip comes into full flow at this time of year and he looks tailor made for the City of York next month, this performance already good enough to win a standard renewal.

The sole 3-y-o and favourite totally blew the start in what initially looked a sub-par Group 2 but the prolific and progressive Poet Master turned in an impressive performance and looks one to keep on the right side for a while - incidentally providing connections with a pair of pattern victories in successive days, last-time-out winners filling the places to give the form some substance.
