A well-contested event that has the makings of strong form, a pair of unexposed types split by an improver with a few further down the field shaping better than the result.

TO CHASE A DREAM one of the least exposed, looked to have been let off lightly by the handicapper and, well backed under a change of rider/less testing conditions, picked up where he left off when last seen 8 months earlier; prominent, shaken up 2 out, produced to lead approaching last, tackled there, asserted close home.

PARVOS (IRE) whose yard is starting to go better now, found some improvement after 4 months off, going down fighting to an unexposed one; raced off the pace, awkward first, reminders soon after, headway under pressure 2 out, challenged last, not quicken late on.

FORGED WELL (IRE) after 6 months off and going right-handed for the first time since winning here on Rules debut, typically gave running back down in trip and should still have more to offer when returned to 2½m+; mid-field, jumped markedly right first but straight thereafter, progress between 3 out and 2 out, held when untidy last.

DON VIRGINIA (FR) strong in the betting with fitness on his side, failed to improve switched to a handicap and looks more than ready for a step up in trip; mid-field, mistake sixth, effort 2 out, one paced.

DON HOLLOW (GER) who'd been given a chance by the handicapper, attracted and shaped encouragingly after 18 months off (had another breathing operation); taken wide, dropped out, pushed along before 2 out, headway approaching last, plugged on, not knocked about; one to look out for with this under his belt, particularly when back over further.

WELL EDUCATED (IRE) who won this race in 2022, wasn't in the same form as last time; in touch, ridden after sixth, beaten before 2 out.

ROMEO BROWN shaped as if better for the run after 7 months off, the majority from the yard having done something similar this autumn, looking as if he'd finish in the frame until late on; prominent, led before 3 out, headed between last 2, no extra flat and lost a few more places; interesting from this sort of mark and likely to be much closer to form next time.

WISE GUY (FR) back under a fully-fledged rider, had been in fine form when last seen in the spring and shaped much better than the bare result, going through the race as well as any seeming in need of the outing; in touch, loomed up early in straight, ridden 2 out, weakened approaching last; will remain of plenty of interest.

THEREISNODOUBT (IRE) back in usual headgear, had defied this mark on his return last season, but his absence this time was nearly double what it had been then and he possibly needed the run after 10 months off; typically not fluent, led until before 3 out, weakened after next.

EIRE STREET (IRE) who has done really well since being sent handicapping, shaped as if needing the run after 6 months off; raced wide, mid-division, driven before 2 out, brief headway soon after, no further impression.

MOJO EGO (IRE) hasn't gone on from an encouraging stable debut and was always behind.
