A biggish field of novices, though few qualified as interesting before the race and the easy winner is the only one that description applies to now; the pace was even and the first few home were all in touch by halfway,

LENEY COTTAGE (IRE) proved a different proposition in a first-time tongue strap back over fences, showing improved form to run out an impressive winner; held up, travelled powerfully, in touch seventh, led after 5 out, in command from 3 out, had plenty in hand; he should take plenty of beating again next time.

UNDER THE RED SKY (IRE) back down in trip, returned to form from a little out of the weights; mid-division, in touch eighth, led after tenth, headed after 5 out, effort next, one paced, no match for winner; he'll get in some terrible races from his current mark and is knocking on the door.

ONE COOL CLARKSON fit from points, ran creditably in producing a third in-frame effort from 4 handicap outings; prominent, shaken up 5 out, left behind from next, plugged on.

MUMGOS DEBUT (IRE) ran a bit below form in a race he couldn't dominate, though the chances are he'll bounce back; in touch, shaken up 4 out, not quicken.

MAJOR RIDGE (IRE) in first-time tongue strap after 3 months off, matched his hurdles form on his second try chasing, though has more to do from this mark; in touch, ridden before 4 out, made no impression.

RUNSWICK RELAX found run of good form coming to a halt, a bad mistake to blame, his jumping problems evidently not a thing of the past; in touch early, shuffled back fifth, went prominent out wide tenth, all but came down 5 out, soon beaten.

HARLEYS MAX strong in betting, was well held under the sort of patient ride that rarely pays dividends at this track; in rear, mistake tenth, never involved.

GLACIAL ROCK (IRE) again finished well held; in rear, mistake fourth, tailed off twelfth.

SIMPLY LUCKY (IRE) failed to complete; in rear, pushed along 4 out, beaten alongside Runswick Relax when fell 2 out.

FLY HOME HARRY after 4 months off, ran badly; in rear, jumped none too fluently, beaten long way out.

ATTIMO (GER) might have needed run on first outing since leaving Charlie Mann after 12 months off but didn't last long enough to make him any sort of betting proposition; soon led, headed tenth, weakened home turn, behind when mistake 3 out.
