back over hurdles, hadn't been seen for the best part of 2 years but proved as good as ever, gamely fighting off the runner-up in the closing stages; waited with out wide, travelled smoothly, jumped fluently, took closer order early final circuit, close up 4 out, led before 2 out, tackled from last, dug deep under pressure; he wouldn't want turning out quickly on the back of this, but there's still an element of untapped potential/unfinished business about him, particularly as a staying chaser.

It took O'Toole to prove himself as good as ever to make a triumphant return to action at the chief expense of a similarly reliable sort that had only recently returned from a lengthy absence himself.
