produced a career best to resume winning ways back at the scene of his last success, this less competitive than the races he has been contesting of late (tried in Group 1 company in June), and he capitalised in no uncertain fashion; mid-division, smooth headway over 3f out, led over 1f out, forged clear; is a useful performer on his day, but a hike in the weights is sure to follow and that may leave him vulnerable returned to a better class of handicap.

has been operating below his best this season, but this run is easily excused, sticking to the far side once turning for home (only horse to do so) despite clear evidence from the preceding 2 races that the stand rail was the place to be; in touch, stayed alone far side in the straight, ridden 3f out, faded.

Not a strong handicap for the grade, the favourite and top weight Awake My Soul proving a class apart, his task made easier by the disappointing displays of the pair closest to him in the betting; the pace was sound and, following on from the 2 sprint races, all bar one member of the field elected to come stand side in the straight.

AWAKE MY SOUL (IRE) produced a career best to resume winning ways back at the scene of his last success, this less competitive than the races he has been contesting of late (tried in Group 1 company in June), and he capitalised in no uncertain fashion; mid-division, smooth headway over 3f out, led over 1f out, forged clear; is a useful performer on his day, but a hike in the weights is sure to follow and that may leave him vulnerable returned to a better class of handicap.
